According to Jewish tradition, burial grounds are sacred sites that must remain undisturbed in perpetuity — establishing a cemetery is among the first priorities of a Jewish community. Jerusalem Gardens, at Venice Memorial Gardens (1950 Center Rd), was consecrated in September 2018 for the benefit of all the Jewish residents of our area.

Its special hallmark: a cornerstone brought from Har HaZeitim — the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem — symbolizing an eternal bond with our homeland and our tradition. To provide proper Jewish burial for every member of the community, Chabad of Venice established the Venice Chevrah Kadisha (Holy Society).

We walk with you, the whole way.

  1. Before need

    Plan with peace of mind

Plots are available for individuals and families; pricing varies by location and availability. Many families pre-plan to spare loved ones difficult decisions in the rushed hours between death and burial — we'll help you choose a plot and record your wishes, before you need it.

  2. At the time of need

    Every detail, per halacha

The Venice Chevrah Kadisha coordinates all needs and local partners — taharah and shmirah per halacha, a simple and dignified burial in the consecrated section, and guidance for kohanim, markers, engraving, and unveiling.

  3. In the days and years after

    You are not alone

Support for shivah, shloshim, and yahrzeit observance — with Kaddish services, annual yahrzeit reminders, and the memorial plaque wall at the Chabad House keeping their memory present.

Whenever you are ready — book a tour or call (941) 493-2770.

In their memory

Honoring loved ones, for generations.

A name inscribed, a Kaddish recited, a prayer book opened each morning — quiet, enduring ways a soul is remembered and elevated at Chabad of Venice.

Kaddish Services

Have Kaddish recited for a loved one — a one-time recitation ($36), annually on the yahrzeit ($360), or Kaddish and Mishnayos every day for the first year ($360). A tremendous merit and source of elevation for the soul.

Arrange Kaddish

Memorial Plaque Wall

Dedicate a plaque on the memorial wall at the Chabad House ($540, or $1,000 with yearly Kaddish) bearing your loved one's name and date of passing. A yahrzeit reminder card is mailed each year, and the memorial bulb is lit during the yahrzeit month and on all Yizkor days.

Dedicate a plaque

Books in Their Memory

Donate a prayer book ($36) or Chumash ($60) inscribed with your beloved's name — used every day by those who come to Chabad to pray and learn, doubling the blessing each time.
